Episode 39: Anatomy of a Fall
Indebted to Otto Preminger’s ANATOMY OF A MURDER as well as many prestige dramas from the 1980s and 1990s, Justine Triet’s ANATOMY OF A FALL is one of the best reviewed movies of 2023 and a nominee for Best Picture and Best Director at this year’s Oscars. The Brothers dig into the film and its deliberately ambiguous storytelling in a roundtable discussion. In particular, they focus on the film’s withholding of information, stylistic approach, interrogation of the French legal system, and showy performances. They also debate the film’s central question: did she do it?
