Aren is mainstream, but also eclectic. He’ll defend the merits of the summer Hollywood blockbuster while simultaneously lambasting others for not appreciating the complexities of Korean New Wave. He detests pretension in film and is a sucker for spectacle. While skewing to more modern cinema, he thinks film looks best in black and white. Science fiction, animation, and thriller are his favourite genres, but he’ll watch anything so long as it’s good. He’s a prairie boy, born and raised. When he's not reviewing movies, he's making them. His short film QUANTOM is due for release later this year.
